Programs
Youth Empowerment Program (YEP)
The Youth Empowerment Program brings together immigrant youth between the ages of 13 and 18 to learn about issues of injustice in their communities, brainstorm potential solutions, and empower them to be community leaders to carry out the change they want to see in the world. Through training, community outreach, education, and workshops, youth will gain a deeper historical and political understanding of their experiences in America. All students will learn about the impact of social issues not only on themselves, but on their families, friends, and communities. YEP is a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment to learn about social change and discuss impacts and solutions.
The Organizing Committee (OC)
The Organizing Committee is a group of passionate young leaders between the ages of 13 and 25 that collaborates to develop campaigns for the growth of our communities. Through mutual aid, workshops, and other means of organizing, students create impactful initiatives for the Flushing community. Students must have participated in at least one semester of the Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) to be eligible to join the Organizing Committee.
Events and Activities
