Civic Engagement
Voter Registration
MinKwon Center NJ holds voter registration drives at universities, Korean grocery stores (such as H Mart), and various adult daycare centers to help community members to be registered voters and share resources about voting, voter's rights, and candidates.
Citizenship Classes
MinKwon Center NJ hosts weekly citizenship classes in Korean to prepare local residents for their naturalization test.
A citizenship test preparation class was held from February to March this year, and the next session is expected to begin around mid-May.
This is a 7-week course that takes place every Friday from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM. The class covers the 100 civics questions provided by USCIS, reading and writing test preparation, vocabulary from Part 9 of the N-400 application, and mock interviews.
Oath Ceremony
Minkwon Center New Jersey occasionally joins at the USCIS oath ceremonies in Newark, NJ, to help new citizens to become voters right after the oath ceremony. Individuals also get to learn about the basic voting procedures and information.
