Youth Empowerment Program (YEP)
The Youth Empowerment Program brings together immigrant high school youth to learn about issues of injustice in their communities and potential solutions. Through training, community outreach, education, and workshops, youth will gain a deeper historical and political understanding of their experiences in America. All students will learn about the impact of social issues not only on themselves, but on their families, friends, and communities. Often these social issues are not taught in institutional schools, and not designed with immigrant students of color in mind. YEP is a culturally sensitive and inclusive environment to learn about social change and discuss impacts and solutions.
The Organizing Committee (OC)
The Organizing Committee is a group of passionate youth activists that collaborates to develop campaigns for the growth of our communities. Through mutual aid, solidarity, workshops, and other campaigns, students create impactful initiatives for the Flushing community. Students must have participated in at least one semester of the Youth Empowerment Program (YEP) to be eligible to join the Organizing Committee.
