The MinKwon Center for Community Action welcomes volunteers year-round for any given task whether it is a one-time commitment or a long-term one. No matter who you are or where you are coming from, we welcome and love your desire to serve, educate, and organize Asian Pacific American (APA) and immigrant communities!
During COVID-19, many volunteer opportunities are able to be done remotely. Feel free to connect with us!
Current Volunteer Opportunities
Volunteer at our 2023 "Spring Community Fest"
Join us on Saturday, May 27, 2023 for our upcoming Spring Community Fest!
• Distribute COVID test kits and health resources
• Engage with Music / Arts & Crafts activities station
• Connect communities to health and social services
Volunteer at our Food Pantry
Volunteer with us at our Food Pantry, held weekly every Thursday from 9am -12pm at the Free Synagogue of Flushing (136-23 Sanford Ave, Flushing, NY 11355).
For Mandarin-speaking volunteers, we are seeking 3-4 people to assist with line/crowd management. This will involve engaging with community members who come to the pantry to receive food.
Additionally, (regardless of language capabilities), we are seeking 2-3 people to assist with manual labor. Ideally, we are looking for people who can comfortably lift up to 40lbs, and can stand on their feet for 2-3 hours without any health risks.
Volunteer with Civic Participation
• Participate in phone/text banking and canvassing sessions to register voters and assist current voters
• Participate in field work, such as registering voters through public tabling, conducting voter surveys, and educating the community about voter rights
• Free training is available for those who participate in any events
