Health Outreach Fellow

The MinKwon Center for Community Action is seeking a dedicated and talented individual to serve as a Health Outreach Fellow. The Health Outreach Fellow will have the opportunity to work with our Health Policy and Programs Coordinator to accomplish the goal of ensuring community members’ access to health insurance and address linguistic, cultural, and technological barriers.

Salary: $18/hr

Organization History & Mission

The MinKwon Center for Community Action was established in 1984 to meet the needs and concerns of the Korean American community.  Since our founding, we have made a profound presence through various grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy initiatives that address important community issues, including immigration policies at the national, state and city levels, voter rights, and cultural awareness.  The MinKwon Center places a special emphasis on meeting the needs of our marginalized community members, including youth, elderly, recent immigrants, low-income residents, and limited-English-proficient residents.


Job Description

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Respond to health program-related inquiries, especially in regards to the Public Health Emergency, and provide referrals as needed.
  • Administer in-person and virtual events and activities for health education ad outreach, including but not limited to: tabling, flyering, and virtual education events.
  • Collaborate effectively with other staff, volunteers, and external agencies in order to fulfill goals, including supporting Communications staff with messaging needs.
  • Provide logistical and other support as required by supervising staff.



Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the following:

  • English and Korean proficiency is required.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Ability to work well both independently and in teams.
  • Knowledge, interest, and commitment towards concepts and issues of public health, outreach, and education activities, especially in the context of the Korean American, AAPI, and/or immigrant communities.
  • Experience related to public health, program management, and administrative work.
  • Ability to be highly organized, meet deadlines, take initiative on projects with minimal supervision and a sense of ownership, and follow up on communications in a consistent and punctual manner.
  • Proficiency in using Google and Microsoft Office Suite, such as Drive and Excel.
