Case Manager (Temporary)

The MinKwon Center for Community Action is seeking a dedicated and talented individual to serve as a Case Manager. This position will work directly with low- and moderate-income community members in need of Ida Relief assistance.

The MinKwon Center for Community Action was established in 1984 to meet the needs and concerns of the Korean American community.  Since our founding, we have made a profound presence through various grassroots organizing, education, and advocacy initiatives that address important community issues, including immigration policies at the national, state and city levels, voter rights, and cultural awareness.  The MinKwon Center places a special emphasis on meeting the needs of our marginalized community members, including youth, elderly, recent immigrants, low-income residents, and limited-English-proficient residents.

 

Job Description

The Case Manager provides support services to clients who have been impacted by Hurricane Ida through careful assessment of applications for emergency grant assistance and overseeing the grant process.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

  • Provide comprehensive screening and assessment for eligibility for the Ida Relief Fund for Excluded New Yorkers.
  • Conduct intakes, and provide information and referral services as needed.
  • Manage routine client communications, including answering inquiries by phone and email.
  • Assist clients with preparing applications and compiling documentation, and ensure that all necessary documentation have been carefully vetted and recorded.
  • Take part in biweekly calls with other Ida grantees.
  • Maintain client files and documentation of services according to grant reporting and auditing standards.
  • Provide accurate and complete weekly and quarterly reports detailing service activities and outcomes.
  • Provide logistical and other support as required by supervising staff.

 

Qualifications:

Candidates will be evaluated on the basis of the following:

  • Bilingual language proficiency is required; Korean is strongly preferred.
  • 2-3 years of prior case management experience highly preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to be highly organized, to meet deadlines, to manage a high caseload, and take initiative on projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in teams.
  • Proficiency in using Google and Microsoft Office Suite, such as Drive and Excel.
